Daniel Marx
BIO
Daniel Marx is a physicist at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL), working on the Electron-Ion Collider (EIC) project. He joined BNL in 2020 and has been working on the accelerator design of the EIC, in particular the electron storage ring. Daniel obtained his PhD from the University of Hamburg in 2019 for research he conducted in DESY's accelerator R&D group on novel beam-measurement techniques for electron linacs. He graduated from Imperial College London with an MSci in Physics in 2016.
ABSTRACT
The Electron-Ion Collider (EIC) will be a major new facility located at Brookhaven National Laboratory that will collide electrons with protons or ions at a wide range of energies in order to investigate the inner workings of the atomic nucleus. It will be a highly complex machine with many different beamlines and challenging requirements. In this talk I will introduce the EIC and our current work on the accelerator design in preparation for construction of this exciting new collider.
