LBNL Director's Reviews
LBNL Director's Reviews
Background and Intent
Ensuring that all LBNL projects are managed within scope, schedule, and budget is critical to the scientific success of the Laboratory and to the continued revitalization of its scientific facility infrastructure. To better assure the success of these projects, oversight of major projects is centralized under the dedicated, full-time leadership of the Laboratory’s Project Management Office (PMO). The PMO partners with project teams to prepare for major project phases, e.g. DOE critical decision (CD) or status reviews, by assisting projects in coordinating on-site Director’s Reviews. Scheduled prior to a DOE review, Director’s Reviews bring together a peer group of subject matter experts to simulate the rigor of a DOE independent project review and help project teams better prepare for the successful completion of the DOE review.
Timing of the Review and the Review Team
A Director's Review will be held approximately 4-6 weeks in advance of a DOE independent project review, and will follow the same format and with the same charge as the DOE IPR. Reviewers will be independent experts not affiliated with the project.
