Amazing Tech Support from LPS
Fresh out of college, I began teaching English at Lawton High School. I then traveled with my military spouse to Texas, New York, Kansas, Germany, and Virginia--always teaching and /or serving as a librarian.
We returned to Lawton-Fort Sill twice in our military life, and fortunately, LHS always needed an English teacher. Later, while I was teaching at Cameron University, Tony Jones offered me the opportunity to serve as a Library-Media Specialist working with the students, faculty, and staff at LHS. Without question, I knew I had to come home--to the school that nurtured me as a young teacher and stayed in my heart no matter where the Army sent us.
When the LRC opened, I moved with Charlotte Oates and her team to the LRC where we've been having a blast building and growing our library program. We're incredibly blessed to keep evolving in collaboration with our students, our faculty, and our leadership team--refining a Library Learning Commons where we can gather join students in their journey to create their best life.

Ms. Billings graduated from Lawton High School and worked in banking and as a Starbucks barista before finding her niche as a library assistant for Lawton Public Schools. She worked at Sullivan Village Elementary School for three years before joining the other LPS high school librarian at the LRC.
2025-26 marks her fourth year at the LRC. Recently, a teacher from Sullivan asked her the difference between high school and elementary library students, and she replied, "Basically, none."
