Amazing Tech Support from LPS
When I teach Study Skills: College Success at Cameron University, my students often comment, "Why did't I learn this in high school?" Of course, I do realize that they were probably introduced to skills by their teachers, but it may help to have another teacher reinforce those skills.
Workshop One: "Reading as Process" An introduction to SQ3R with an emphasis on review. Students will practice SQ3R in the workshop. The teacher and I will collaborate to determine an appropriate reading passage. SQ3R may be adapted to all content areas and is particularly useful for textbook reading.
Workshop Two: "Ways We All Read." A discussion of personal reading challenges and strategies for overcoming those challenges.
Workshop Three: "Cornell Note Taking" An introduction to Cornell Note Taking with an emphasis on personal adaptation. Students are less likely to resist this research proven strategy if they understand that they may use the elements of Cornell Note-Taking that they find most useful.
Workshop Four "Two-Column Note Taking in Math"
Workshop Five: "The Study Cycle"
Workshop Six: "Do It Now! Using the Pomodoro Method to Reduce Procrastination"
Workshops Seven: "The Motivation Formula"
