The Advanced Studies (AS) course of study is in alignment with the UC system admission requirements and prepares students for the nation’s most competitive post-secondary schools. Through a differentiated, high-standards instructional program students are engaged in courses that meet their individual and intellectual needs.
AS provides college-level, content-specific studies in English, social science, biological and physical sciences, mathematics, and world languages. The courses implement a variety of differentiated, high-standard instructional models to facilitate learning opportunities that help students develop their abilities to the highest levels. Students may select from 24 Advanced Placement courses and numerous on-campus college classes. Advanced Studies requires students to take a minimum of six AP and/or college courses to graduate (2 during 10th, 2 during 11th, and 2 during 12th).
Beginning in Fall 2025, students in AS have two pathways in which to choose. Students may choose to earn an associate's degree with our dual enrollment program with Pierce College or they may choose to research an interdisciplinary problem to defend in AP Seminar. Both pathways will engage students in Advanced Placement and college courses designed to encourage them to reach their maximum potential.
