Personal
I was born and raised in Los Angeles and am a proud native of the San Gabriel Valley. I am Mexican American, and much of my family identifies as indigenous. I have two sisters; one is a graphic designer and the other works in public relations. I’m married to my amazing husband, who is a promo editor, and we share our lives with our dog, Biscotti, who is very much a part of our family.
Professional
I earned my B.A. in English Education from Cal Poly Pomona, where I was honored as a Partners in Education Distinguished Future Educator and graduated with honors as part of the Kellogg Honors College. I continued at Cal Poly to complete my Single Subject Credential in English and later obtained my Clear Credential through UCSD.
Teaching has always been my calling, and I feel fortunate to be living my dream. I have spent the past 11 years teaching in the private school sector, primarily working with middle school students in grades 6 through 8. During that time, I had the privilege of coaching Academic Decathlon, moderating Student Council, mentoring Mock Trial, and co-directing within the theatre department. My last production was The Wizard of Oz, my most ambitious show to date.
This is my first year at Cleveland High School, and I’m thrilled to bring my passion for equity, justice, and arts integration into the classroom. I believe in creating real-world connections through curriculum and in helping students think beyond the four walls of the classroom.
