Liz

Highly Speech & Language Therapist
Therapy & Medical Team Leader 


Liz qualified as a speech & language therapist in 1998. Liz worked for five years in the NHS with adults with learning disabilities. Liz then came to Milestone in 2003 to lead the provision. Since 2010, Liz has lead the therapy team to include occupational therapy and physiotherapy. In 2021 Liz was appointed as Director of Integrated Pupil Services. Liz leads the therapy and medical teams. Liz’s clinical interests include AAC, dysphagia, challenging behaviour and the mental health of children with learning disabilities. Liz has a Masters of Education in Supporting Children and Adults with Severe, Profound and Complex Needs. Liz has a keen passion for speech & language therapy student education and is an experienced Practice Educator and for implementing SEND reforms to ensure all children’s needs are met.  


Laura

Speech & Language Therapist

Laura has worked at Milestone since 2016 and enjoys being a part of the friendly therapy team. Laura has previously worked within a special needs school, and a language unit within a mainstream setting, gaining experiences as a school based therapist. I have an interest in ASD and am interested in the unique way our children communicate. 


Anne

OT / Physio Assistant


Anne has worked at Milestone since 2008 in a range of different roles. Anne joined the therapy team to support the work of the NHS Physios and OTs. She works closely with the NHS physios and OTs to support pupils with equipment, appointments and programmes. 

Tim

Therapy Assistant Practitioner (TAP) & SLTA Assistant Team Lead

Tim has worked at Milestone since September 2002. He worked as a Teaching Assistant until becoming a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant in 2009. Tim supports the work of the Speech & Language Therapists and Sensory Occupational Therapist to implement programmes. He works with individual pupils and small groups. He particularly enjoys sensory stories, assemblies, social skills work and supporting pupils with challenging behaviour. Tim is highly skilled and experienced at making visual support and communication resources; he creates, monitors and supports various communication systems.

Tim contributes to the department’s training programme by leading sessions for staff and families on AAC (Alternative and Augmentative Communication), PECS and Communicate in Print. He has recently joined the Signing Team at Milestone and has completed his Makaton levels 1-4. Tim loves dressing up so as a team we can always rely on him to make a big effort as play is the best way to encourage and support communication.


Poppie 

Speech & Language Therapy Assistant 

Poppie joined the team in January 2023.  Poppie brought with her five years of class room experience as a teaching assistant and a speciaoist interest in supporting language, communiation and behaviour.
