Transdisciplinary Theme (Modules 1–2)
Our Transdisciplinary Theme this module is "How We Express Ourselves". We are exploring the Great Fire of London, electricity and the art of Jamini Roy. We will also be making comparisons between different types of materials and exploring our different senses.

Central Idea

Our Central Idea is "Human creativity creates connections and leads to change". We are looking at "How materials change and are used to meet people's needs" and "How creativity and innovation lead to change".

Week 2

• Week two has seen Ruby class developing a greater sense of who we are as a class team. The pupils have begun to respond when called as a group by the class name at the end of break and playtimes.

• The pupils have demonstrated good digital citizenship skills when utilising the technology we have available, such as taking part in sharing games on the interactive whiteboard. Some pupils have been using the Clicker platform in our phonics sessions, and others have demonstrated they can communicate through the use of GoTalks and talking tiles.

• We enjoyed using the "Didi cars" in the lower hall, demonstrating excellent steering skills to avoid each other.

• We explored using charcoal as an art medium, linking our line of inquiry into how materials change and are used to meet people's needs with our investigation into the artist Jamini Roy.

• Our inquiry into how creativity and innovation lead to change saw us looking at pictures of houses before and after the Great Fire of London, before designing and constructing our own house in cooking.

Week 1

• This week, we welcomed the pupils into their new class. They have been learning where their new seats are and discovering who their classmates will be.

• We introduced the class to their timetable and have been establishing new routines.

• The pupils all enjoyed "putting out the fire" by using water in spray bottles to wash away chalk flames.

• In PE, we began looking at throwing and catching skills, using beanbags and a basketball hoop.

• We made playdough, utilizing the math concepts of "full," "empty," and "more" alongside practicing our fine motor skills while stirring and kneading the dough.

• We enjoyed having the choice of a tambourine or shaker during our music session and made lots of happy noise using them!
