Welcome to Module 1 & 2 and the start of a new academic year at M@LAD Satellite! We are excited to welcome our learners as they settle in, build relationships, and grow in confidence.
In this module, children will explore the many ways we express ourselves through art, communication, traditions, and the choices we make. Through guided inquiry, we will investigate:
How electricity and computers help us share our ideas.
How patterns, celebrations, and food express our traditions.
How signs and symbols help us tell stories about the past.
Learning will be enriched through creative activities, shared celebrations, and experiences in the local community. We look forward to seeing each child’s curiosity and individuality shine as they find new ways to express themselves.
What a lovely start to the new academic year! This week, our learners have been settling into their new class, getting to know their teachers, and building friendships. They have explored their new environment, discovered where things belong, and begun to feel comfortable with their daily routines.
As we begin our IB unit, How We Express Ourselves, the children have shared their ideas, communication through the total communication approach and explored different ways to regulate their emotions. We are proud of the curiosity, kindness, and courage they have shown as they find their feet together.
This week, our learners continued to settle into their class and become more confident with daily routines. They practised moving between activities, caring for their environment, and working alongside their friends and teachers.
As part of our IB unit, How We Express Ourselves, we explored the technology in our surroundings. The children noticed familiar devices and investigated what happens when they press a button, make a choice, or give an instruction. These experiences helped them begin to understand cause and effect while sharing their discoveries with one another.
This week, our learners enjoyed communication sessions and Read Write Inc. activities, building confidence as they listened, shared ideas, and explored sounds and words together.
As part of our IB unit, How We Express Ourselves, the children created Rangoli patterns inspired by the art of Jamini Roy. They experimented with different materials, shapes, and colours to make their own designs. It was wonderful to see them express their ideas and take pride in their creations.
This week, our learners explored autumnal fruits through hands-on activities. They noticed different colours, shapes, textures, and smells, and used their communication skills to share what they discovered and express their preferences.
The children also ventured to the canteen to collect their own school dinners. This gave them a chance to practise following a familiar route, making choices, and growing in confidence as they navigated the wider school environment. We are proud of the independence they are beginning to show!
