🌟 Jade Class – Week 2 🌟

Our second week in Jade Class has been a lovely one, with the children becoming increasingly confident in their routines and enjoying lots of exciting learning opportunities. The children have been working hard during their 1:1 workstation sessions and developing their skills through our outdoor continuous provision activities. They have particularly enjoyed opportunities for mark making, exploring a variety of different materials and developing their gross motor skills.

The class are now really beginning to settle into their daily routines. All of the children are developing a good understanding of Circle Time and are increasingly engaging by using words, symbols and other forms of communication to respond to questions about what day it is and what the weather is like. It has been fantastic to see their confidence and participation growing!

🏪 Jade Class Snack Shop & Making Choices

This week, we introduced our very own Jade Class Snack Shop! On Monday, we held our first snack shop session, encouraging the children to make independent choices and develop their communication skills.

The children used their Chatty Sheets to request the items they wanted, such as toast, and were encouraged to choose which spread they would like. This was a fantastic opportunity for the children to practise functional communication, independence and decision-making in a fun and meaningful way.

🔥 Great Fire of London – Sounds, Senses & Exploration

We brought our Great Fire of London learning to life through an exciting sensory story. The children used their senses to engage with different parts of the narrative, exploring scarves, the sounds of fire and water spray bottles to help put out our painted fire.

The children absolutely loved getting involved! It was wonderful to see their excitement and engagement as they explored the story through sensory experiences, while developing their communication, listening, attention and physical skills.

🌟 Jade Class – Week 3 🌟

It has been another exciting and busy week in Jade Class, filled with creativity, physical activity and opportunities to explore different cultures!

🎨 Creative Fire Painting
The children enjoyed creating their very own fire paintings. Using cotton wool and a selection of fiery colours, they explored different ways to create flame effects and produced some fantastic artwork. 🔥🎨

🏃 PE – Developing Ball Skills
During PE, the class had lots of fun developing their ball skills. They practised bowling a ball to knock down skittles and rolling a ball towards a hoop. The children enjoyed taking turns, practising their aim and celebrating each other's successes. 🎳⚽

🌍 European Day of Languages
To celebrate European Day of Languages, Jade Class went on a sensory adventure around Europe! ✈️ We pretended to fly in an aeroplane and travelled to Spain, Italy and France. The children enjoyed exploring the countries through a sensory story and had the opportunity to taste a variety of foods from each country. It was a lovely way to experience different languages, cultures and flavours! 🇪🇸🇮🇹🇫🇷

🌟 Jade Class – Week 4 🌟

It has been another fantastic week in Jade Class, with lots of opportunities to explore, create and develop new skills!

🧊 Exploring Changes in Materials
The children had fun exploring how materials change by dropping paint onto ice and watching what happened as the ice began to melt. They also experimented with warm water, observing how it changed the ice and helped the colours move and mix. 🎨🧊

🔥 Sensory Fire Rescue
Through sensory play, the children became firefighters! They worked hard to rescue toy people from jelly representing the fire, using scoops to carefully find and save them. This activity provided lots of opportunities to develop coordination, problem-solving and fine motor skills.

🎨 Exploring an Artist's Work
The class enjoyed looking at the work of Jamini Roy and his Bengali Folk Art. They created their own versions of his artwork using earthy colours.

🏎️ Didi Car Fun!
This week, the children had the exciting opportunity to use Didi Cars, developing their navigation skills and spatial awareness as they moved around the space. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed this experience and had lots of fun practising their driving skills!

🥭 Cooking – Fire Smoothies
In our cooking lesson, the children made their very own fire smoothies using delicious strawberries, pineapple and mango. They developed their food preparation skills by cutting the fruit and then using a blender to mix the ingredients together with milk. The smoothies were a colourful and tasty way to finish off a busy week! 🍓🍍🥭
