St Stephen’s BNS Waterford are making great progress with their Lasallian Leavening Fund project by developing an outdoor space that will benefit the school in many ways.
Their project centred on developing an outside prayer space in the adjoining garden area of the school. This space can be used to pray, for meditation, for contemplation and it will provide a much needed space for those most vulnerable in our classrooms.
The initiative incorporates the principle of Faith in the presence of God as this special place will be used space for prayer and to promote wellbeing through spiritual reflection.
With a lot of the students living in apartments in the city centre here in Waterford, the project leaders see this space as a sanctuary for them to escape the hustle and bustle of their busy lives and take some time out for their physical, spiritual and mental wellbeing. It is also felt that this space would be a great sensory area which would greatly benefit lots of pupils in St. Stephens.
Students are very much involved in the project through the Student Council and Gardening Club.
