St Augustine's making progress on prayer stations
As part of The Lasallian Leavening Fund project team of 45 students at St Augustine’s College, Trowbridge, representing all year groups are currently involved and working on the planning, developing and installation stages of six new prayer stations. These reflection spaces will be situated in prominent, high traffic areas across the college’s outdoor grounds.
The initial phase focused on identifying the most appropriate locations. Students eagerly contributed ideas, carefully considering visibility, accessibility, and opportunities for meaningful daily engagement within the wider college community.
Attention has now turned to the purpose and design of each station. Plans to date include incorporating a water feature, seating, and an archway, as well as other ideas. The group has also taken the budget into careful consideration while exploring suitable materials and overall aesthetics.
Proposed weather-proof materials include recycled copper, a solar-powered water pump, red cedar, recycled acrylic, and a range of upcycled elements. A statue of Our Lady will feature at one of the main prayer stations, complemented by thoughtfully selected planting to enhance the surrounding landscape.
