The school garden continues to develop. Our Prayer and reflection labyrinth has been defined and our focal point Lasallian statue planted. We have installed our stations of the cross mosaic within wooden structures created by a local charity supporting ex- offenders. We were blessed to host Brother Ben and Brother Michael recently who were pleased with the progress of the garden. Our counselling space is nearing completion with chairs made by pupils in the school, We have created a woodland sensory garden for our SEND and Neurodivergent pupils.

Here at St Peter’s school in Bournemouth we have again felt blessed by the generosity of the Lasallian

Leavening Fund this year. We had decided to transform an unused former BMX track in one of the school’s wooded areas into a circular walkway with numbered Stations of the Cross nailed to the trees – but then the Holy Spirit got involved and the project grew! We now have a phase 1 (the Pathway plus refurbishment of the garden area around Mary’s statue) and a phase 2 (reclaiming an adjacent over-grown wooded area and turning it into an outdoor classroom space). We have received our benches and added a reflection on each accompanied by a scripture quote. Apart from them being great to sit on, the reflections offer an opportunity to share thoughts with friends or silent reflection.

We have positioned the benches around the garden so as our retreatants can pause and rest as they feel one with nature admiring the trees, listening to the birds and watching the squirrels and rabbits.

De La Salle College Waterford transformed its busiest student corridor into a vibrant, student-led Lasallian space. The A Floor Redevelopment replaced damaged lockers with clean storage, student-designed displays, and De La Salle quotes chosen by students themselves. A rescued piano now anchors an informal creative hub accessible to all, offering students a space for music, mindfulness, and community before school, at break, and after hours. First and second year locker rooms were redesigned around a progression model moving from "induction and welcome" to "inspire and lead," with TY Lasallian Buddies facilitating peer workshops along the way. Students drove the project from planning to evaluation, voting on artwork and quotes that reflected their lived experience of the Five Core Lasallian Principles. Plans are already in place to extend the model to third year and beyond.

De La Salle College Junior School launched the Kindness Club as part of the Leavening Fund initiative, bringing together Years 3 to 6 students each week to explore and live out acts of kindness. The club's flagship output was a student-designed kindness calendar — illustrated by the boys themselves, featuring 60 acts of kindness for school, home, and community — which was distributed to every student and educator in the school and will be included in next year's school diary. The initiative connected directly to the Lasallian Awards programme and was embraced across classrooms. Students also made voluntary donations that went toward the 1 La Salle solidarity campaign, supporting projects including the La Salle Food Program for Haiti. From concept to calendar to community impact, the Kindness Club showed how small, consistent acts can become a genuine force for change.

St Peter's Primary is bringing its Our Lady Prayer Garden to life with Leavening Fund support, transforming a designated outdoor area into a permanent space for prayer, reflection, and Marian devotion. The stone circle has been laid, Our Lady's statue is now in place, and the May Procession this term saw students gather around her in prayer and song for the first time. The next phase includes planting — led by Chaplain Juliette with a greenhouse already full of plants — alongside a student-recorded audio reflection element being produced in the secondary school's recording studio. Lasallian Leaders are also painting stones with words from Our Lady's prayer, and the whole school community will vote on the garden's name. Positioned at the front of the school, the garden will be a daily visible witness to St Peter's Catholic and Lasallian identity.

Shaped by student input, the space features Lasallian artwork by Jo Milea, handcrafted wooden benches (including a "Prayer Perch" engraved by local craftsman Paul), soft furnishings, and inspiring imagery. Lecale Trinity Grammar School launched a new horticulture and outdoor learning project with Leavening Fund support, installing a polytunnel, storage shed, and gardening tools on school grounds. Students and staff are already growing vegetables together — potatoes, carrots, and rainbow chard — with harvesting expected after the summer break. The project delivers hands-on quality education in food growing, nutrition, and sustainability, while also creating a dedicated outdoor sanctuary for students with special educational needs, supporting emotional regulation, sensory learning, and well-being. St Gregory's Catholic College is using Leavening Fund support to transform their school Chapel through two ambitious artwork installations. On the main wall, flanking the stone crucifix, circular designs will feature the Lasallian Call and Response, deepening the prayerful character of the space. On the rear shutterboard doors — ten panels spanning the full back of the room — students and staff are creating an anime-style visual narrative telling the story of St John Baptist De La Salle and the founding of St Gregory's itself. Students have already begun preparing the surface and storyboarding the designs, with two Year 9 pupils bringing the De La Salle character to life. The project is a collaboration between the Chaplaincy team and artist Sara from St Cassian's, Kintbury, and reflects the school's desire to make its Lasallian identity unmistakably visible in its most sacred space.
