Nursery

Our Central Idea for Module Two has been "We All Have A Role To Play In Our World".

We began the module by looking at the line of inquiry; "An inquiry into the roles in our community".

As part of this the children explored what a job was, talking about different careers and what each career needed, to help them do their job. During this time the children developed their 'caring' attribute by pretending to be doctors and nurses caring for the nursery teddies and babies.

We then moved on to think about oral health and the role of the dentist in our community. The children developed an understanding of teeth, how we care for them and what happens if we do not look after them.

Our second line of inquiry was "An Inquiry into our role in caring for our community".

As part of this the children looked at what they can do to care for our nursery, such as caring for equipment and tidying up. We thought about caring for the school, going on a litter hunt around the school to make sure it was all tidy, then the children looked at recycling, thinking about what materials are made out of and whether they can be recycled to help look after our world. As part of our recycling investigation the children loved creating their own recycling monsters!

Our final line of inquiry has been "An inquiry into celebrations in our local community".

As part of this the children have enjoyed learning about the Christmas story, talking about the characters in the story and what happened when Jesus was born. The children have enjoyed exploring different Christmas traditions and have worked well to practise and perform our Christmas sing-along to their families.

Thanks for your continued support this module, we hope you all have a wonderful festive break and we look forward to seeing you in 2024!
