End of Term 2 Newsletter

15th December 2023

Principal's Message

Welcome to the final newsletter of Term 2.

This module we have seen firsthand the amazing musical talent that our children have here at Langley Park Primary Academy. Firstly, we have had our iRock Concert, where we saw our musicians come together to perform in front of the school, resulting in us all singing along. Secondly, we have had our guitarists perform to us. They have shown us all that they have been learning in their lessons, which was brilliant to see.

Our OPAL journey is continuing to thrive and the children are enjoying the opportunities that they now have during their lunchtimes. If you have anything that you are able to donate to the school, it will be greatly appreciated. We hope to open the mud kitchen, den building and hopefully a wheeled area if we get enough donations.

A big thank you to all that attended, volunteered and supported our Christmas Fair. It was a great success and it was so lovely to see so many of you joining us. A huge well done to Molly Marsh's Dance Club and our very own Young Voices Choir for their magnificent performances.

On Monday 4th December, we took a selection of Year 6 children, who are part of our Young Voices choir, to sing to the residents at Ashley Gardens Care Centre. It is always so lovely to get out into the community - especially to share some Christmas cheer.

Thank you to all of the parents and carers who have come to watch the fabulous Christmas performances from Nursery, EYFS and KS1. A lot of effort went into them and we are extremely proud of each and every one of them who were involved.

Please enjoy exploring the class pages to find out what has been learned this module across the school.

Have a wonderful and restful break with friends and family. We look forward to seeing you all on Wednesday 3rd January.

Have a merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

Miss S Brading

National Online Safety Guide

When parents and carers finally have the chance to spend some quality time with their child(ren) over the Christmas period, many face a familiar struggle to prise their young one's attention away from their phone, console, tablet or computer. Fun family bonding over the festive period, however, doesn't have to exclude devices. There are sackfuls of Christmas activities and ideas online which adults and young people can enjoy and engage with together.

Below is a 'nice list' of seasonal suggestions of how to make the most of the online world this Christmas. There are also some handy tips such as video calling family members, playing video games as a family and listening to your favourite seasonal songs online.

A reminder that all of our parent/carer community are invited to create an account with National Online Safety, which provides a wide range of resources such as the guides we include in our newsletters, courses and video resources. If you have not already done so, please create your account by visiting the link below.

You can also download the National Online Safety app on any device or smartphone by searching for it in the App Store/Google Play Store.

Contacting the class teachers:

If you have concerns that you would like to raise with the academy, please do so via the office email address which is contactus@langleyparkprimaryacademy.org.uk. Upon receipt, your email will be directed to the relevant member(s) of staff.

We respectfully ask that you address any concerns or issues with your child's class teacher in the first instance. If it remains unresolved then your concern will then be escalated to Mrs McRobb, Vice Principal. In the unlikely event that it continues to remain unresolved, it will be escalated to Miss Brading at that point.

We are also aware that some parents continue to email staff directly. In the event that this happens, staff have been asked to forward your email to the aforementioned email address to resume communication via the correct channels.
