Phonics International

As you are aware, as an academy we follow the phonics programme 'Phonics International'. This starts within our nursery and progresses through Reception until the end of Year 2.

Phonics International supports the children in developing their ability to match sounds to codes then blend these sounds together to read and segment these sounds to write.

As a parent/carer you are your child's greatest teacher. It is really important to support your child's reading by regularly reading at home. Through sharing stories at a young age children are able to develop close bonds with adults, hearing a wealth of vocabulary that they then begin to use in their own conversations with others, as well as developing their imagination through hearing a range of different stories.

We love to see the children exploring different stories.
