Line of Inquiry 1: An inquiry into how different people express their feelings and emotions.
The children focused upon settling into their new routines in nursery, exploring the nursery environment as well as forming friendships with their new friends.
The children explored different emotions, and how these can be expressed in many different ways; such as in drawings, words, actions and through using makaton.
The children explored the story of 'The Colour Monster' thinking about which colour expressed which emotion. During the line of inquiry the children also worked on their understanding of how we can change how we feel by doing different things. For example; "If I feel sad I can have a cuddle and I feel happy again".
Line of Inquiry 2: An Inquiry into how our actions and words affect our relationships.
During this line of inquiry the children explored how we can work in small and larger groups to share ideas and play together.
The children explored the story of 'How to Grow a Friend' and discussed what we can do to help make friends and care for those around us.
We also looked at what makes a friend, and how we feel when others aren't kind to us.
Line of Inquiry 3: An Inquiry into how play can help us build relationships and a sense of belonging.
During this line of inquiry the children have been collaborating in the garden to create large scale models, such as cars, aeroplanes and even a sleigh for Santa!
The children have been developing their understanding of what it means to belong to a family, class and group of friends.
We will be continuing to build upon this line of inquiry in the next term.
Well done on a fabulous first term Seedlings!
