PS 297

Environmental Politics

"This turn of mind, which always brings everything back to our material interest, which causes us to seek profit or remedies everywhere, and which would cause us to regard all of nature with indifference if we were always well, has never been mine" - Jean-Jacques Rousseau

What is the relationship between humans and the natural world? Who shapes environmental policies and how effective are these policies at addressing environmental issues? This course examines theories for conceptualizing and applying environmental politics, investigates actors (those who have power), and explores themes and discourse in environmental politics.
