LUSD offers various Instructional Aide positions throughout the district. Below is a brief summary of what you can expect when subbing in these positions.
Work cooperatively with Certificated Teachers to support instructional activities of English Language Learning students. A majority of the assignment will be spent working directly with students in a capacity that meets learning and physical needs of students. Reinforcing learning concepts at the teacher’s or specialist’s direction in small groups or as needed. Assist in the supervision of the students’ activities at recess and/or lunch.
The Expanded Learning Opportunities Program provides enrichment and academic opportunities for students in transitional kindergarten through sixth grade. Instructional aides working in this program will support students with academic activities in English Language Arts and Math, art activities, STEAM projects, and physical education.
Under the direction of certificated staff, the Instructional Aide will support instructional activities of students; perform a variety of instructional services within a well-defined framework of policies and procedures; provide a range of instructional training experiences in a variety of educational environments which may include small group instruction, intervention, learning centers, and individual tutoring . The Instructional Aide will work closely with the teacher and follow detailed instructions. A majority of the assignment will be spent working directly with students in a capacity that meets learning, behavioral, emotional, and/or physical needs of students. A variety of instructional and/or behavioral tasks will be performed as well as other duties as requested.
Under the direction of certificated staff, the Special Education Instructional Aide will work to support instructional activities of students with special needs; perform a variety of instructional services within a well-defined framework of policies and procedures; provide a range of instructional training experiences in a variety of educational environments which may include specific classrooms, learning centers, vocational programs, the community and/or other instructional facilities; serve students with any or a combination of the following conditions: intellectually delayed; physical/medical involvement; communication disorders (to include non-verbal); hearing/vision impairment; learning disorders; emotional disturbances; behavior disorders and to perform related duties as assigned. The Instructional Aide will work closely with the teacher and related services personnel and follow detailed instructions. A majority of the assignment will be spent working directly with students in a capacity that meets learning, behavioral, emotional, and/or physical needs of students. A variety of instructional and/or behavioral tasks will be performed as well as other duties as requested.
