Assist in preparing and serving foods in a cafeteria, snack bar, or central kitchen; to clean kitchen equipment and utensils; and to do related work as required. Supervise students assisting in the kitchen during meal time.
In addition to all duties of the Food Service Worker the Lead will prepare & maintain a variety of reports and records including inventory, transportation records, daily reports of meals served, and production sheets. Estimates and requisitions food quantities, equipment and supplies needed; receive, inspect, verify and accept delivery of food and supplies; oversee and assist with proper storage and efficient use of food and supplies. Provide assistance in work direction and guidance to monitor daily job assignments and operational activities in food service areas. Assist in training new staff in food service operations.
Assists in the kitchen by helping prepare fruits, vegetables, sandwiches, and other foods. Prepares, cooks, and bakes a wide variety of foods, such as breads, cakes, puddings, spaghetti, hamburgers, and other main course dishes. Follows recipes and worksheets and selects, measures, and prepares ingredients for cooking and baking. Sets up and serves hot food, sandwiches, beverages, and other food at serving lines. Assists in cleaning and storing cafeteria utensils, equipment, and food supplies. Washes pots and pans and cleans and sweeps kitchen areas. Cleans ovens, grills, and food preparation areas. Operates grills, ovens, steamers, stoves, mixers, dishwashing machine, and other kitchen mechanical equipment.
