FMS Access
How do I request access for a new user?
If you currently do not have access to FMS or infoAdvantage and would like access, please speak with your manager. Your manager should then contact your department's FMS Security Coordinator to request the appropriate access for you. .
How do I login into FMS?
To log into FMS, please use your PaySR ID (or the ID you use to login into the network each day and/or your Gmail account) and your current password for that ID. If you have issues logging into FMS, please contact your department's FMS Security Coordinator.
Please go to https://fms.insidela.org to log in to FMS.
What is LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol)?
LDAP provides a centralized authentication for users with a user ID ending with lacity.org domain. LDAP validates users for different applications such as FMS and infoAdvantage.
What is a proprietary department
Non-proprietary departments @lacity.org domain is used by non-proprietary departments and every user gets a LDAP account by default which can be used to access Gmail, SNow, FMS, infoAdv and other Citywide apps. FMS is authenticated by LDAP which is managed by ITA. Users need to contact their department’s systems support for password issues or submit a SNow ticket to ITA-IDM for assistance.
Proprietary departments for the non-@lacity.org departments, that is if your city email address doesn’t have the lacity.org domain, FMS considers you to be from the proprietary department, e.g. lapd.online, lapl.org, etc. FMS Access group can assist in password change.
How do I request FMS access for proprietary department employee(s)?
Please have your FMS Security Coordinator submit a SNow ticket to ITA-IDM and request your LDAP number.
Please include the following information.
Account Name or User ID
Full Name
Department
Email Address
Telephone Number (if available)
Account Expiration (required for contractors)
To submit a SNow Quick Ticket click ServiceNow
How do I login into InfoAdvantage?
To log into InfoAdvantage, please use your LDAP ID and your current password for that ID. For proprietary departments, e.g., LACERS, LAPD, LAWA, and LADWP. The LDAP for FMS and infoAdvantage logins come with a dept-prefix. Your password is assigned by FMS Security & Workflow.
If you have issues logging into InfoAdvantage, please contact your department’s systems support.
How will passwords be established?
FMS defers the user authentication to the LDAP user group. FMS uses LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) to establish User ID and password. Therefore the User’s ID and passwords must be active in LDAP.
For the proprietary department users, FMS passwords will be generated by FMS Security & Workflow group and an email with the login credentials will be sent directly to the user after UDOC has been approved.
How do I change my FMS password?
FMS is authenticated by the on-premise LDAP managed by ITA. Sometimes a user can login to office network and email ( @lacity.org) but not FMS/infoAdvantage and the cause can be that the LDAP password is out of sync from your network Active Directory or the password has expired and is due for change.
For users with @lacity.org email accounts, you may try the following methods to change your network password and force a sync to the LDAP:
1. If you are in front of your work PC, then please press CTRL-ALT-DEL keys and select "Change a password" from the pop-up menu to change password.
2. If you connect to your work PC through Remote Desktop Connection, then in the Remote Desktop Connection session, press CTRL-ALT-END keys and select "Change a password" from the pop-up menu to change password.
OR
3. Contact your IT section for assistance.
However, if you are from a proprietary department, e.g. lapd.online, lapl.org, etc., FMS Access group can assist in password change by submitting a SNow ticket to SW-PASSWORD RESET & SW-USER ID REQUEST
How do I request FMS security and approval access?
Security roles come with different actions to allow user to open, save, edit, attach, etc., to a document. Workflow roles will allow user to apply approval or rejection to a document.
Your Department’s FMS Security Coordinator is responsible for submitting a UDOC (User Maintenance Document) for a user.
Once the UDOC has been created, it will go through the levels of approval to final. These requests will come from the employee's supervisor.
Can departments modify user access OR will the Security and Workflow Team modify access?
Your department's FMS Security Coordinator can submit a new UDOC (User Maintenance Document) (UDOC) to modify your FMS access.
The Controller’s Office FMS Security and Workflow team CAN NOT modify your access.
We can only approve the UDOC submitted by your department.

User roles will be based upon information provided by each department in the FMS Access Request Form available on the FMS Website.
