Dressing out and participating in fitness, sports and game activities is a requirement for successful completion of this course. Students will learn the importance of fitness as it relates to physical, social, and mental well-being. Fitness activities will provide students the opportunity to improve their current fitness level and teach students how to incorporate all types of physical activity into their weekly routine. This class will also cover Health Topics such as Nutrition, Disease Prevention, Substance Abuse Prevention, Mental, Social & Emotional Wellness and Family Life. Health & Physical Education 9 is a graduation requirement.
This course requires a $7 fee to cover the cost of the students’ P.E. uniform shirt. All 9th grade students will receive 1 P.E. uniform shirt to also be used in 10th grade P.E. and P.E. Electives. Additional shirts will be available for purchase.
FIRST AID, CPR, AND AED TRAINING

Students will automatically be enrolled in this course consecutively with their 9th grade PE course. Students will receive instruction in emergency first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and the use of automated external defibrillators (AED). Hands-on practice for CPR and AED use will be provided. Successful completion of this course will require students to demonstrate their ability to use CPR & AED skills. This course is a graduation requirement. This course does not provide an official First Aid, CPR, AED Certification.

Tenth grade Health and Physical Education is a requirement for graduation. Dressing for and participation in physical education is a requirement for successful completion of the class. Emphasis is placed on physical fitness through flexibility and cardio-respiratory conditioning. Activities include team and lifetime sports. To receive credit for tenth grade Health and Physical Education, students must satisfy requirements for both Health Education and Physical Education.

Air Force JROTC with Health PE 9

This course is designed to acquaint the student with the historical development of flight and the role of the military in history. The overriding goal is to provide an introduction to the scientific and technical aspects of aerospace while instilling in cadets a sense of discipline, responsibility, and citizenship. Operable weapons are not a part of the curriculum, although demilitarized or replica weapons are sometimes used for drill teams. Study habits, time management, wear of the uniform, Air Force Customs and Courtesies, and basic drill skills are introduced. Successful completion of JROTC 1 with Health and PE also fulfills the requirements for Health/PE 9 as this is a double blocked class.
