King William County Public Schools provides a comprehensive four-year high school program for all students. Juniors and Seniors have the opportunity to request Late Arrival or Early Release if they have met the criteria below.
Juniors: Juniors may request Early Release for 1 period
They are enrolled in a Co-Op program
Are able to maintain employment throughout the school year. Proof of employment will be required.
Are on track to graduate and enrolled in all required classes
Have reliable transportation
Seniors: Seniors may request Early Release/ Late Arrival if:
Option 1:
Enrolled in a Work Based Learning Experience (WBL) or Co-Op program (can have Early Release for 1 period each day)
Are able to maintain employment throughout the school year. Proof of employment will be required.
On track to graduate (enrolled in all required classes)
Have reliable transportation
or
Option 2:
Have obtained all verified credits
Are on track to graduate (enrolled in all required classes)
Have reliable transportation
Students must fill out the attached application and submit it to their counselor prior to the end of the current school year to be considered for Early Release or Late Arrival for the next school year. Submission of application does not guarantee a student will be granted Early Release or Late Arrival. If granted, the Early Release/ Late Arrival time period will be determined by scheduling. Students who are granted Late Arrival or Early Release understand they may need to attend on days they are not scheduled for due to testing, events, or special needs. Late Arrival/ Early Release is a privilege which can be revoked if a student does not adhere to the expectations set by KWHS and outlined in the KWCPS Code of Conduct.
