Ko te whāinga matua o tēnei hōtaka kia mātau kia mōhio ai ngā Uri ki ōna Taiao me ōna Kaupapa Kaitiakitanga.
He kaitiaki a tātou Uri i roto i o rātou hāpori puta noa i te motu. Nō reira ko ngā akoranga o tēnei hōtaka he akoranga Putaiao he akoranga e aronui ana ki ngā mātauranga-ā-iwi o tērā Uri, o tērā Iwi.
He kimi rongoa ki ngā take taiao tētehi atu o ōna aronga.
We want our Uri to be Taiao Warriors with knowledge of the environmental, social and cultural aspects of Kaitaikitanga.
We want our Uri to be Taiao leaders within their communities who can utilise mātauranga ā-iwi to help address the contextual environmental issues of today.

To provide Uri with quality learning experiences that connect whenua, tangata and ngā kōrero tukuiho to environmental wellbeing.
To provide Uri with a L1 and L2 NCEA programme that covers pūtaiao, science and social sciences.
To support Uri on a pathway to further learning through NCEA L3 and beyond into further education and/or career opportunities.

Full year course made up of kaupapa related to our Taiao:
Te Oranga o te Taiao
Wai, Whenua, Rangi
Mana Taiao, Mana Tangata
Ngā Wero mō te Taiao
Skills and capabilities covered include:
Mahi Rangahau
Scientific Investigation
Problem solving
Communication and Collaboration
Course delivered online with face to face wānanga each term.
Course fees will cover the costs of accommodation and kai at wānanga ā-kanohi.
Fees are $50 per Uri per term ($200 per year)
NGĀ PAEARU WHAKAURU
Uri should have sufficient literacy to engage with online platforms (Te Reo Māori - curriculum level 5; English - curriculum level 4)
Uri should be provided with a suitable device (e.g. chromebook) to be able to access the online learning components of the course
Uri must have support from their Kura to engage in the course - including an allocated Kaitakawaenga and a letter of support from their Kura
Uri should be self-motivated and able to be independent learners
Uri will be expected to complete Te Hotaka Whakarite in term 4, 2022
Uri wishing to enrol in the Level 2 NCEA course in 2023 must have successfully completed the L1 course in 2022.

These courses will lead into ToA Tiaki Taiao L3.
Toa Tiaki Taiao L3 will contribute to University Entrance
Tertiary study pathways include Certificates, Diplomas and Degrees in Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Environmental Planning, Environmental Management
Career pathways include: Iwi Environmental Liaison/Advisor; Hapū, Iwi, Hāpori Environment Monitor; Environmental Analyst; Policy Writer; Environmental Researcher; Ranger; Local and District Council positions; Pest Control Officer.
