Dequnatization(역양자화)는 low-resolution bits image를 high-resolution bits image로 blind restoration하는 기법으로 다음과 같은 용도로 활용할 수 있다.

• low bitdepth image restoration

• image data reduction

• low power consumption영상

아래 그림은 555bits 영상을 888bits 영상으로 dequantization 기법을 이용해 복원한 영상이다.

다음 예는 444bits 영상을 역양자화로 복원한 경우와 기존의 noise shaping 기법으로 contour를 제거한 영상간의 PSNR과 화질 비교를 보여준다. 역양자화 복원후 PSNR이 35.9dB 로 화질적으로 원본에 근접한 역양자화 결과를 보여준다.
