My inquiry revolves around the question of how the interactions between society and religion influence all different kinds of communities. For this project, I focused on the religions Christianity, Islam, and Buddhism as jumping points of my research. Some points I looked at to drive my research were how religion has impacted different important events in society and how religion influences political decisions. For the products of this project, I choose to make a magazine and a lesson about Christianity, Islam, and Buddhism directed toward Middle Schoolers. The magazine gives examples of different religions and how they have impacted societal events and features an interview I had with a Buddhist raised by a Buddhist nun in India. In the lesson, I explain the origins, key beliefs, and similarities and differences of Christianity, Islam, and Buddhism in a slideshow format that would also have a lecture accompanying it.
My magazine is called The Religious Insite. In my magazine, I look at how different religious world events, people, and actions have influenced society. Specifically, I look at Thich Nhat Hanh, Martin Luther King Jr., and his correlation with Gnahid, how Islamophobia increased after 9/11, and an interview I had with Dekila Chungyalpa a Buddhist and environmentalist.
