KIS Elementary School has developed an amazing opportunity for our students to experience a classroom without walls. We will be taking the grade 4 students out to explore and learn in the beautiful cityscapes of Korea. We will leave KIS around 8:15am on the morning of Thursday, September 26th and return on Friday, September 27th at 2:30pm to ensure students can ride the bus home. Our grade 4 students will be going to Suwon.
Although we will not be on campus during this time, these days are considered typical school days. These learning opportunities are a vital part of the elementary school curriculum and adhere to our school wide goals. Grade 4 students will be spending their night at the Suwon Hostel. Your student will be working in small groups and will be accompanied by their homeroom teachers and guides who are there to help facilitate the activities over these two days.
Students will be transported by school-arranged busing and will have meals arranged by the hostel's cafeteria and local restaurants. The school insurance will cover your student while we are out in the field, just like it does here at school. We will have medical personnel on each trip, along with many staff certified in first aid and CPR to take care of any minor medical issues that may arise.
In the TRIP RESOURCES section of this page you will find links to a packing list, the itinerary, and other information you will need to have a safe and enjoyable trip.
Thank you for supporting this exciting, experiential education trip. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

The 4th grade students of KIS explored the mighty Fortress of Suwon. The students learned about the Joseun dynasty and the cultural history of this amazing UNESCO site.
Students walked the walls to discover how it was constructed and how it is maintained. The class also toured the local food and textile bazaars to get an authentic feel for the culture of the period.
