Tree Planting in our School
Tree Planting in our School
1) How did this experience assist you in identifying your goals and developing areas of growth?
Tree planting at Ganga Campus made me realize how important it is to protect the environment. By planting trees, I learned that I want to do more activities that help the planet. This experience helped me set goals to be more involved in environmental projects and to learn more about how I can contribute to a greener world.
2) What challenges did you have in this experience? Which skills did you develop?
One challenge was the physical effort needed to dig holes and plant the trees, which was tiring. Another challenge was working in the heat, which made the task more difficult. Despite these challenges, I developed teamwork and perseverance. I also learned how to properly plant and care for trees, which is a skill I can use in the future.
3) What did you learn by initiating your CAS experience/project that you can use again?
Through this project, I learned the importance of planning and working together. We had to coordinate to ensure the trees were planted correctly and that everyone knew their role. This experience taught me that with good planning and teamwork, we can achieve a lot. I can use these skills in other group projects or environmental activities.
4) How did you show commitment and perseverance? In what ways did you gain skills?
We showed commitment by staying focused on planting all the trees, even when we got tired or hot. We didn’t stop until the job was done, and we made sure each tree was properly planted. This experience helped me gain skills in tree planting and in staying dedicated to a task until it’s finished.
5) In what ways did you gain skills of working collaboratively?
Tree planting required us to work closely as a team. We had to share tools, help each other with digging, and make sure the trees were spaced correctly. This experience improved my ability to work with others, communicate effectively, and support my teammates.
6) Which issues of global significance are you engaged with in making decisions and taking actions?
Planting trees is a way to fight back against climate change and help our school become carbon net neutral by 2025. By participating in this activity, I contributed to a larger effort to protect the environment and help fight against global warming. It reminded me that small actions, like planting a tree, can make a big difference.
7) How are you recognizing and considering the ethics of choices and actions in this experience?
We made sure to plant the trees in the right spots, where they would have enough space to grow and wouldn’t disrupt the local environment. We also took care to clean up after ourselves and respect the campus grounds. This experience taught me the importance of being mindful of the environment and making ethical choices that support long-term sustainability.
