1) Describe one highlight in your CAS journey?
One highlight of my CAS journey was participating in an environmentally focused newsletter that combined both the creativity and service elements of CAS. We mainly did field work where we spoke to members of the community about the issues in Kodaikanal and its surrounding areas, and then wrote articles and published them in a newsletter to raise awareness. Raising awareness for the people of the community satisfied the service element, while the process of writing the article aided in the creativity aspect.
2) What do you hope to achieve most from CAS? How can you do this?
From CAS, I hope to grow as a person and understand the world better. By trying different activities in creativity, activity, and service, I want to build new skills and become more caring, reflective and appreciative of my surroundings and community. To do this, I will keep challenging myself with new projects, ask for advice, and think about what I learn from each experience.
3) Have you ensured an equal balance across the three CAS strands? If not, how will you rectify this?
I have been focusing a lot on service and creativity, but I need to do more physical activities. To fix this, I will join a sports team or start a regular exercise routine like running or yoga. I will also look for outdoor activities like hiking or biking to balance my CAS activities.
4) How have you used reflection to gain insights or understandings?
I use reflection by keeping a journal and talking to friends and mentors about my experiences. This helps me see what I’m doing well and what I can improve. Reflecting on my activities helps me understand their impact on myself and others, and it guides me in making better choices for the future.
5) What have you learned from your involvement in CAS?
Through CAS, I’ve learned the importance of hard work, teamwork, and being kind. I’ve found that making a difference often takes time and effort, and working with others is crucial. My CAS experiences have made me more open-minded and strong. They have also taught me the value of thinking about what I learn and always trying to improve.
6. How will you address the learning outcomes you haven’t achieved yet?
To address the learning outcomes I haven’t achieved yet, I will first identify which specific outcomes need more attention. For example, if I haven’t fully met the outcome of demonstrating leadership, I will seek opportunities where I can take on leadership roles, such as organizing events or leading group projects. I will also set clear, achievable goals for each outcome and regularly review my progress. Additionally, I will seek feedback from peers and mentors to help me understand where I can improve and take steps to develop the necessary skills.
7. How will you take care of CAS over your summer break? Share your plan.
Over the summer break, I plan to take care of CAS by engaging in a mix of creativity, activity, and service projects. For creativity, I will continue contributing to the environmental newsletter by writing articles and taking photos of local environmental issues. For activity, I will join a summer sports camp or start a new hobby like cycling or swimming. For service, I will volunteer at a local community center or participate in environmental clean-up projects. I will keep a detailed journal of my experiences and reflections to ensure I stay on track with my CAS goals. This balanced approach will help me make meaningful progress in all three CAS strands.
