1) How did this experience assist you in identifying your goals and developing areas of growth?
The Amazing Race taught me the importance of teamwork and quick thinking. It made me realize that working well with others and staying calm under pressure are skills I want to improve. This experience helped me set goals to become a better team player and to think more creatively when faced with challenges.
2) What challenges did you have in this experience? Which skills did you develop?
One challenge was doing activities like building a gingerbread house, a sack race, and threading Froot Loops on a string while racing against other teams. Another challenge was running from campus to campus in pitch darkness, which was both exciting and difficult. I developed better communication skills, learned to stay focused under pressure, and I like to think that my stamina improved somewhat from all the running.
3) What did you learn by initiating your CAS experience/project that you can use again?
Participating in the Amazing Race taught me strategy and how to collaborate with others. We had to plan our moves quickly and work together to complete each challenge. This experience showed me that with good planning and teamwork, even difficult tasks can be accomplished, and I can use this lesson in future group activities or competitions.
4) How did you show commitment and perseverance? In what ways did you gain skills?
We showed commitment by pushing through each challenge, even when it got tough or tiring. Running in the dark and completing tasks under time pressure required perseverance. This experience helped me build stamina, both physically and mentally, and taught me to keep going even when things get difficult.
5) In what ways did you gain skills of working collaboratively?
Working as a team was essential in the Amazing Race. We had to divide tasks, support each other, and make quick decisions together. This experience improved my ability to cooperate with others and taught me the importance of trust and communication in a team.
6) Which issues of global significance are you engaged with in making decisions and taking actions?
Although the Amazing Race was a fun event, it reminded me of the importance of collaboration and problem-solving in a global context. These skills are crucial in addressing larger issues like social challenges and teamwork on an international scale.
7) How are you recognizing and considering the ethics of choices and actions in this experience?
We made sure to play fair and support each other during the race. Even in a competitive setting, we focused on positive teamwork and respect for everyone involved. This experience taught me the importance of maintaining ethical behavior, even in challenging situations.
