Experience Reflection:
1) How did this experience assist you in identifying your goals and developing areas of growth?
Participating in the pep rally dance, Independence Day dance, and dorm dance helped me discover how much I enjoy performing and expressing myself through dance. It also showed me that I want to continue improving my dance skills and become more confident on stage. Through these experiences, I set goals to take more dance classes and participate in more performances to further develop my abilities and boost my self-esteem.
2) What challenges did you have in this experience? Which skills did you develop?
One challenge was learning and remembering the choreography for each dance, especially when there were different routines for each event. Another challenge was performing in front of an audience, which sometimes made me nervous. To overcome these challenges, I developed better memory skills for dance routines and learned to manage stage fright. I also improved my teamwork and coordination, as working with others in group dances required good communication and synchronization.
3) What did you learn by initiating your CAS experience/project that you can use again?
By taking part in these dance events, I learned the importance of preparation and practice. I realised that consistent rehearsal and understanding the performance details are key to a successful show. This lesson can be applied to any future projects or activities where preparation and dedication are crucial for achieving the desired outcome.
4) How did you show commitment and perseverance? In what ways did you gain skills?
I showed commitment by attending all the dance rehearsals and practicing the routines, even when I was tired or had other commitments. Perseverance was important, especially when trying to perfect challenging dance moves. This experience helped me build discipline and focus. I also gained skills in working under pressure and adapting quickly to changes, such as last-minute adjustments to the choreography.
5) In what ways did you gain skills of working collaboratively?
In each dance event, working with others was essential. We had to coordinate our movements and support each other to ensure that the performance was smooth and synchronized. This experience improved my ability to collaborate effectively, listen to others, and contribute positively to a team effort. I learned that good teamwork is crucial for a successful performance.
6) Which issues of global significance are you engaged with in making decisions and taking actions?
Through dance, I became more aware of the role of cultural expression and the importance of preserving traditions. For example, the Independence Day dance helped me appreciate cultural heritage and the significance of national celebrations. Engaging in these events made me realize how dance can be a powerful way to connect with and celebrate different cultures, which is important on a global scale.
7) How are you recognizing and considering the ethics of choices and actions in this experience?
In preparing for and performing in the dances, I made sure to respect the cultural and social contexts of each event. I was mindful of choosing appropriate music and movements that were respectful and in line with the themes of the performances. This experience taught me to consider the impact of my actions on others and to ensure that my performances were inclusive and considerate of different perspectives.
