Introduction
“Effective teaching requires considerable knowledge and skill, which should be developed as teachers’ careers progress. High-quality professional development requires workplaces to be steeped in rigorous scholarship, with professionals continually developing and supporting each other so that pupils benefit from the best possible teaching.”
(Standard for Teachers’ Professional Development, DfE, July 2016)
At King’s Group Academies we believe in the power of learning. Not just for our students, but for every member of our team. We are committed to providing high quality, transformative professional development the inspires and empowers our staff to be their very best, driving excellence in teaching and delivering outstanding outcomes for every young person in our care.
Each of our academies run their own in-house CPD offer for colleagues throughout the academic year. This year, with our focus on inclusion, the Trust-wide CPD looks at adaptive planning and resourcing, and is being delivered in-person by each academy's senior leadership team.
The KGA ECF Programme
The ECF Core Induction Programme is a compulsory two-year programme of training for all qualified teachers in their early career years and their mentors.
We have created a holistic programme of training and delivery, to both meet the requirements of the ITTECF, and to support early career teachers as they begin their journey in a King's Group Academy. The personalised approach means that ECTs and their mentors will receive tailored support throughout the two years which is designed to transition seamlessly into the wider CPD offering and further career developing opportunities as they move beyond ECF and become experienced teachers.
You can access the KGA ECT Programme website here.
The KGA CPD Offer
Our KGA CPD offer runs throughout the year, with three 40 minute sessions. Historically, this has been delivered remotely by experts across the trust. This year, the CPD focuses on adaptive planning and responsive teaching, and is planned centrally and delivered by each academy's senior leadership team in-person.
You can find previous sessions and resources on the drop down menus, or by clicking the links below.
KGA Professional Learning Day 2024
We are always looking at what other CPD we could offer. If you would like the opportunity to collaborate with other professionals from across the Trust and facilitate a strand, we would love to hear from you. Please email either sarah.lee@kingsacademies.uk or louisa.loney@kingsacademies.uk
Developmental Drop-Ins
Our developmental drop-ins are our entitlement offer to all colleagues for ongoing professional development of teaching and learning. Find out more here.
Walkthrus
All our academies use Tom Sherrington's WalkThrus as the 'how' that runs alongside our Principles of Teaching to support our DDI process. You should have access to the full website resources through your own academy.
You can find out more on our DDIs and WalkThrus page here.
The Ignite Programme
Designed for senior leaders and delivered by experienced leaders from the Trust, this programme explores all aspects of leadership, centred in the KGA way. Speak to your Headteacher or Principal to find out more.
