The DDI process
Our developmental drop-ins are our entitlement offer to all colleagues for ongoing professional development of teaching and learning throughout the academic year.
Developmental drop-ins are short lesson observations which take place throughout the year, ensuring continuous reflection on teaching and learning. All colleagues are entitled to six DDIs per year, all of which are followed by coaching-style feedback using the KGA Principles of Teaching and the Tom Sherrington's WalkThrus.
DDI Feedback
DDI feedback uses an instructional coaching model, with a discussion of Strengths from the observation, and a coaching conversation around the Actionable Next Step, linked to an appropriate WalkThru. All Strengths and Actionable Next Steps are linked to one of the Principles of Teaching.
All colleagues conducting DDIs receive in-house training on how to observe, and how to give feedback using instructional coaching.
The DDI feedback follows the cycle below.
WalkThrus
WalkThrus were designed by Tom Sherrington and Oliver Caviglioli.
They are short, five step pedagogical frameworks used to support the coaching conversation as part of the DDI feedback, and support staff in improving certain areas of teaching and learning.
At KGA we use them as the “how” of our Principles of Teaching.
You will have access to the website through your own schools' log in details, meaning that you have access to all published materials.
