LAST WEEK OF SCHOOL!

Monday, June 8

  1. Go to This site
  2. Click on 3-4 different fill in stories to complete
  3. Fill in the information needed and read the HILARIOUS stories to your siblings or parents!

Reference:

Noun- Any person, place, or thing (Anything you can touch)

Verb- Action Word (jump, run, play)

Adjective- Describing Word (happy, fuzzy, calm)

Adverb- Describing a verb (Happily, easily, slowly)

Past Tense Verb- Happened in the Past (Ran, jumped, played)

Noun, Plural- Multiple people, places, or things (tables, bunnies, sisters)

Week 10

Happy last week of learning! This week you have been shipwrecked! Oh No! You have to follow along in the journal to help build yourself a better life on the island and make it off alive!

Friday, June 5

  1. Go to Seesaw
  2. Read the improvements that you could make to your island life
  3. Choose 1 or more to try to improve your island life
  4. Take a picture of 1 and insert it on this page

Thursday, June 4

  1. Go to Seesaw
  2. Read the information in your journal
  3. Create SOS out of clothing or other material
  4. Take a picture of it and post it next to your journal page

Wednesday, June 3

  1. Go to Seesaw
  2. Read the information in your journal
  3. Answer the prompt using full sentences: Choose the friend that you want to meet at the waterfall and explain what happens when meeting them
  4. You need to write at least 4-5 COMPLETE sentences

Tuesday, June 2

  1. Read the information in your journal
  2. Build a shelter (Ask for parent permission)
  3. Make sure you read the rules and ideas
  4. Draw a detailed and labeled diagram of your shelter

Monday, June 1

  1. Go to Seesaw
  2. Read the information in your journal
  3. Answer the prompt using full sentences: How do you feel about washing up on an island that you know nothing about? What are you happy about? What are you nervous about?
  4. You need to write at least 4-5 COMPLETE sentences

Publishing project!

Your publisher has asked that you go to a book signing at a library because your fans want your autograph! She wants you to create some sort of visual to go on the table with your book. You can create any visual project you want! This could be:

  • An artistic drawing
  • A poster
  • A skit/play
  • A narrative or made up story to go with your nonfiction topic (A dog's day, The life of a Swimmer)
  • A model relating to your topic (Dog toy made from recycling, Animal habitat, Skis made from sticks and mud, visual showing the life cycle of a chicken, model of an olympic pool made with recycling or outdoor materials)

Your publisher wants you to think creativley! When you are done, put a picture of what you created on Seesaw!

  1. Look at the transition section of the rubric above
  2. Go to Google Classroom
  3. Add in transition words throughout your writing
    1. After, Then, Later, Before, However, But...
  4. When done, write another chapter and revise any comments that you received from a teacher

Field Trip Friday!

  1. Today's field trip is very close your home...it is your home!
  2. Take a field trip in your backyard or a room in your house
  3. Build something...it can be anything!
  4. Post a picture on Seesaw of what you built

Thursday, April 2

  1. Go to Google Classroom
  2. Open up your writing
  3. Work on 2 chapters in your writing, remember to read and look at my comments
  4. When you are done with your 2 chapters, go back and add in 2-3 pictures or diagrams with captions
  5. BONUS: Start making a glossary for your book

  4. Try to learn facts that you did not know before

  2. Go to Google Classroom
  3. Add in and bold 3-4 expert words that go with your topic
  4. Continue to write a chapter or revise a chapter

Week 1

Welcome to week 1 in writing! We will be starting a new unit where we will be writing information books! This means you get to choose something that you are an expert on and write an information book!

We will also have a virtual field trip every Friday in writing! This will be a fun way to make us feel like we are going somewhere!

  2. Take a look at all the animals you might find in an aquarium
  3. Look at the live came and see if you can find some animals that we have read about!

  2. Open up your writing
  3. Work on your table of contents, if it is not done
  4. Start writing your first chapter, Look for Comments!
  5. Next week we will work on adding things into our chapters

Today we are going to start brainstorming a couple topics that you might want to write about.

  3. Go to Informational Writing Book assignment
  4. Start brainstorming topic ideas. You need at least 2 ideas with at least 2 chapters.
  5. As always in writing, if you finish you can go on to your table of contents and even starting writing your book if you want to!

Today we are going to look at what fetaures an information book has. We have been working on this in reading, so it should be review.
