  3. Test which one flies the highest, the longest distance, and the shortest distance
  4. Take a picture of the top 3 airplanes you made and post them on Seesaw under "Paper Airplane Day" Activity

Science Vocabulary Wall

  • Ecosystem- everything that exists in a particular environment. An ecosystem includes living things, such as plants and animals, and things that are not living, such as rocks, soil, sunlight, and water
  • Decomposition- to cause something (such as dead plants and the bodies of dead animals) to be slowly destroyed and broken down by natural processes, chemicals, etc.
  • Phenology- the study of the timing of the biological events in plants and animals such as flowering, leafing, hibernation, reproduction, and migration. Scientists who study phenology are interested in the timing of such biological events in relation to changes in season and climate
  • Pollination- to move pollen from one flower to another

  2. Find a Flower or 2 to dissect

  4. Go to the "Flower Dissection" Activity
  5. Take pictures of the different parts of the flowers that you dissected and put it into the template

  2. Go outside and find 1-2 bees to observe

  3. Observe the habitats that insects live in in your backyard
  4. Think about if you were to build a butterfly garden where would you build it? Why did you choose that place in your yard?
  5. Record your observations and place in your science journal. Draw a picture of the place

  2. Go outside and look at your backyard
  3. Observe any spots that have standing water or places where water might collect
  4. Try to think about a solution to help eliminate or get rid of that water in your backyard

  2. Spend 10-15 min. outside observing the outdoors around you
  3. Choose anything that you see to observe
  4. Write down as many "I wonder" or "I notice" statements
  5. Record today's observations in your science journal on Book Creator

Day 3: Animal Homes

  1. Go outside with paper and a writing utensil
  2. Spend 10-15 min. outside observing the outdoors around you
  3. Observe any animal homes that you see:
    • Bees Nest
    • Ant homes
    • Holes that might belong to an animal
    • Bird nests
  4. Write down as many "I wonder" or "I notice" statements
