Effective November 1st 2024, we will no longer be using Naviance for transcript or recommendation letter submissions.
What This Means:
1. Transcripts: All transcript requests and deliveries will be processed through Parchment, starting on November 1st.
-Current seniors: Create your Parchment account using the link your counselor sent you via email. You can also select the link below, which is the same link.
-Reminder, please use a PERSONAL EMAIL to set up your account, along with your date of birth and your name as it appears on PowerSchool
2. Recommendation Letters: Moving forward, recommendation letters should be requested either within your Common App account or through Parchment.
If you are applying to colleges through Common App, you can request Recommendation Letters under the "Recommenders and FERPA" section.
If you're not applying through Common App, then you will request your recommendation letter through Parchment.
Kettering Fairmont High School has partnered with Parchment to order and send your transcript and other credentials securely. This link will open a new browser.
STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS ON THIS PROCESS ARE BELOW
Step-By-Step Instructions for Transcript Requests
For Common App Applications
Applying to Schools via Common App: Create an account through Common App (if you haven't already), and write down your Common App ID in a secure location. You will need this ID number to make sure your transcript gets to the right place.
Add Counselor: Use the "My Colleges" section of the Common App to assign and invite your counselor to be a recommender (under the "COUNSELOR" section). Make sure you type in your counselor’s name and email address correctly. Doing this will trigger an e-mail message to your counselor, with instructions to submit school forms.
Create a Parchment Account: Create Parchment account using the school specific link/code given to you by your counselor
Log in and access your school: Log in to your Parchment account and select your Fairmont High School from the list.
Initiate transcript request: Click "Order" under your high school name.
Select Common App as recipient: When choosing where to send your transcript, select "Common Application" as the destination.
Enter Common App ID: If prompted, enter your Common App ID to ensure the transcript is linked to your application correctly.
Review and submit: Double check your information and submit your transcript request.
For Direct Applications (applying directly through the school's website)
Create Parchment Account: Create your account or log in to Parchment.
Ordering: You will see your school listed. Click Order.
Destinations: You will see two destination options. One is to send your transcript to a school, business, or other organization. The other option is to send your transcript to yourself or another individual. Make a selection.
Order Details: You will then see the Order Details page where you can view your order and select if you would like to send your transcript now, or wait until the current semester's grades are in. Make your selection. Keep in mind that waiting will delay your request until the end of the semester.
Review: You will be able to review your order again. To make any changes, click Edit Order. Otherwise, click Continue.
Provide Consent: Lastly, you will see the Provide Consent page. This is where you (or your parent/guardian) authorizes Parchment to release your transcript from your school.
Place Order: Once you place your order, Parchment will notify Fairmont and your order will be reviewed. Once reviewed, your order will be processed.
Step by Step Instructions for Letters of Recommendation (LOR)
When requesting LOR's, please remember the following:
Request all LOR's, IN PERSON, from the staff member.
Please allow for AT LEAST 2 weeks for the staff member to write your LOR.
Provide your recommender with information you want included in your LOR. This could be any accomplishments, achievements, or accolades you want included in your letter.
Write a thank you note for your recommender.
IF APPLYING THROUGH COMMON APP:
Log into your Common App account
Navigate to "My Colleges"
Select any of the schools on your "My Colleges" list
Click "Recommenders and FERPA"
Complete the FERPA Authorization Release
Invite your Counselor, for document submission purposes
Invite a recommender. This can include a teacher if they are submitting a recommendation letter, or "Other Recommender" if necessary for any other adult who is not a teacher
IF APPLYING DIRECTLY THROUGH THE SCHOOL'S WEBSITE:
Log into your Parchment account
Select "Order a Credential"
Click on "Letter of Recommendation"
Submit your request
Communicate with your recommender that they should send a PDF of their completed LOR to your counselor, via email
