Highland Agriculture department offers four different CTE pathways a student can take. Below are those pathways and careers that relate to them.
This pathway starts with Animal Science and ends with Vet science. In this pathway students learn about animals and how they relate to society. Basic husbandry skill. There are a lot of hands or lab and exposure to many different types of animals.
The Agriscience pathway helps students acquire a broad understanding of a variety of agricultural areas, develop an awareness of the many career opportunities in agriculture, participate in occupationally relevant experiences, and work cooperatively with a group to develop and expand leadership abilities. Students study California agriculture, agricultural business, agricultural technologies, natural resources, and animal, plant, and soil sciences.
The Horticulture Pathway explores careers in horticulture and focuses on the floral arts and the business behind the floral industry. Students will get first hand experience in running their own floral business and also create awesome arrangements. The class will deal with quality control and marketing.
The Agriculture Mechanics pathway focuses on trade skills. Mainly, construction, fabrication, power equipment repair and maintenance, electrical, plumbing, and masonry. The pathway requires hands on time in the shop laboratory.
