On Day 6, we discussed setting expectations for student use of your Virtual Room. Once expectations have been set, it is important to make sure students understand how to navigate the space so that they can independently explore with PURPOSE and INTENTION. On Day 3, we discussed Meaningful Tasks - and these tasks could definitely be used as a starting point for guided exploration (especially the Scavenger Hunt!). What are other ways you could provide a tool to help students independently navigate your Virtual Room?
Checklists or numbered lists
Digital forms (such as Google Forms) to receive feedback and walk students through "Must Dos," and "May Do-s."
Provide a 5E Model to help state your expectations and the order you would like students to engage in the content.
Timelines or Learning Roadmaps to provide visual representations of expected progression.
Any other task you see fitting!
Explore the Virtual Room below and think about how you might use a room like this type of room with your students. Where is the guided exploration present in the room below? Is it explicitly identified? How could students complete the guided exploration?
Starting today, you will have the opportunity to take what you learned and create your own Virtual Room. Each day your work will build upon the previous day and at the end of the course, you will have a Virtual Room you can use with your students.
📋 Create an expectation or documentation of how you expect students to work through the resources or content in your room. This can be linked to an object or text in your room or something that you share separately with students.
💺🔗 Continue to add elements/objects to your Virtual Room, linking any websites to objects along the way.
