Between Day 1 and Day 2, hopefully you have settled on a topic for your Virtual Room. With your topic in mind, begin thinking about meaningful tasks you can include in your room. What is meant by a meaningful task? Most meaningful tasks included in a Virtual Room are ones that require students to engage in critical thinking, creating, responding, or producing some sort of product. Including at least one meaningful task in your room is a way to set the stage with expectations on use, navigation, and results. Some possible meaningful tasks that can be worked into your room:
Scavenger Hunt
iSpy
Social-Emotional Check In
Formative Assessment
EDU Protocols - After students have had the opportunity to explore and learn, use an EDU Protocol (such as Cyber Sandwich) to help them strengthen their communication, collaboration, and comprehension!
Any other task you see fitting!
Explore the Virtual Room below and think about how you might use a room like this type of room with your students. What was a meaningful task that you found in your exploration of this room? How would you identify this task for students to ensure that they completed that task?
Starting today, you will have the opportunity to take what you learned and create your own Virtual Room. Each day your work will build upon the previous day and at the end of the course, you will have a Virtual Room you can use with your students.
📋 Decide on a meaningful task you would like to include in your room.
💻 Create the task you would like students to complete for your room. Feel free to design this in the tool of your choice. It could be a Google Form, Google Doc, Canvas quiz, pencil and paper activity, or anything else you deem appropriate based on the theme of your room.
🚫 No need to add anything to your room today unless you would like to continue adding items to set the scene of your room!
