I see career opportunities expanding in the areas of digital collections, user-generated content, and digital humanities approaches to connecting people with resources. Though libraries, archives, and museums have developed as separate entities with particular methodologies and communities of practice, I derive most energy working in LAM (library, archives, and museum) spaces which recognize the deeply entwined missions of these organizations. I’m very interested in cross-pollination between museum professionals, librarians, archivists, educators, web designers, and others working in the digital realm to find effective solutions to the issues of information management in the digital age. To me, seeking user-oriented solutions within communities and across institutions and having the technology to implement them is what makes this an exciting time to be in the field of information sciences.
