News and Announcements
Arrival and Dismissal
Students should arrive at school after 7:15. The first bell will ring at 7:35 to move students to class, which begins promptly at 7:45. The school day ends at 2:15.
Cell Phones (or Other Device): Building Procedures
Studies clearly indicate the negative impact cell phones have on adolescent well-being, and the detriment to learning in the classroom. A recent article in Atlantic Magazine, reports that on average a phone interrupts a young person, fifteen (15) times per hour, or 237 times per day, and when they have access to them in the classroom then they are using them to text or check social media, even when told not to.
Another article written in 2024 titled, "A Dangerous Substance": The Impact of Social Media on Youth Mental Health can be found here.
KRHS is committing to reducing cell phone use during academic time by following a consistent procedure. We ask for your partnership in this endeavor.
Cell phones and/or personal electronic devices will be placed in a designated storage location in the classroom during instructional time. If a student needs to leave the classroom (ie. use the restroom), the cell phone and/or personal electronic devices will remain in the designated location in the classroom. Only at the discretion of the classroom teacher can cell phones and/or personal electronic devices be used to support classroom activities. Cell phones are prohibited during all academic periods including class, flex, study hall, and advisory, school wide activities and/or assemblies.
Of note, students shall not use audio or visual recording devices during the school day unless the purpose of the recording is of educational value, or has been approved by a classroom teacher. This includes, but is not limited to, using recording devices to video, photograph or record persons in the school building at any time violating the privacy of others.
Parents are asked to please call the main office at 603-927-4261 should an emergency arise.
Because personal devices can be used for digital communication during the school day, it should be noted that improper conduct using a personal device is in violation of the Responsible Use Policy (RUP), under part 1: Safety and Security: Hardware and Networks.
Classroom Procedures:
Students will place their cell phones in a cell phone storage cabinet upon entering the classroom or academic space. The phone will remain in this cabinet for the duration of the class period. This will occur for all academic periods (including class, flex, study hall, and advisory.) Teachers may authorize the use of cell phones for academic purposes.
Students who fail to meet the above expectations will be subject to the code of conduct, which includes cell phones being brought to the main office for the remainder of the day, cell phone being held in the office during the entirety of the school day or kept at home for an extended period of days or weeks, parent contact, or other disciplinary measures.
Important Attendance and Tardiness Reminders
At KRHS we value student attendance in classes and understand circumstances do arise for absences. Class time for students is vital to their academic success and we want to partner with you to ensure each student receives the education that they deserve. Families should provide notification for any absence or tardy/dismissal that takes away from class time. For your convenience you may either call 603-927-2302 or email hsattendance@kearsarge.org. Please see the student handbook for a list of excused absences. All absences that exceed three consecutive days must be excused by a medical professional.
Students who are tardy to school and/or class will receive two verbal warnings. Upon the third unexcused tardy a school detention will be issued with increased consequences for subsequent tardies to school. Please notify the main office for any extenuating circumstances.
We ask for your partnership in reinforcing the KRHS standard of dress

All students will be receiving an email notification with details about the Graduate Portfolio that will be linked to the KRSD Portrait of a Learner. The Graduate Portfolio encompasses a Capstone Project that enables students to engage in a personalized learning experience similar to the previous Senior Project. Any questions can be directed to Dr. Geraghty and the Graduate Portfolio Website will be functional before the first day of school.
