In 1999 our principal Shanelle Smith was on staff as the school newspaper’s editor, The Eye of The Tiger.
“As an editor, I proofread stories, maintained the storyboard for each edition, approved ideas, and wrote editorials,” Smith said.
With the leadership of our Adviser Robyn King, the LCPA Newspaper returns for the 23-24 school year. We are proud to introduce: The Tiger’s Eye. Lincoln has not had a school newspaper since 2006. We looked through many pages of old yearbooks to figure out how best to honor the legacy of past editions of the Lincoln newspaper and our mission is to make sure that we give the students at Lincoln a voice and a place to share their stories.
“My inspiration for the LCPA Newspaper to come back was that it was gone,” King said. “I know how much I enjoyed working on newspaper staff when I was in school and I wanted to bring it back for the readers and reporters. I wanted the students to have that experience.”

Paying homage to our principal was one of the main goals we hoped to accomplish with the process of reviving the newspaper.
“I think reviving the school paper is a dope idea,” Smith said. “I would love it even more if it were more green and housed in a digital space because I think it considers the environment, makes it more accessible, and saves its footprint for generations of LCPA students to come.”
Figuring out how to digitally house and provide activities to do digitally was a challenge but something we felt was important to honor. With the new age of technology, practically all news sources are accessible online. We found it was important to get with the times and find new and exciting ways to reach Lincoln students.
Currently, as of 2023, I am the acting Editor of The Tiger’s Eye. My name is Camille Moore and I graduate in 2024 (SEEEENNIOORSSS). My passion for journalism stems from my want to give everyone a chance to share their voice and their stories no matter what. I enjoy sharing my opinions and collecting information and as a Lincoln Tiger, my goal is to create a position and a legacy that someone else will fulfill one day. I have so many ideas and am always open to trying new things. Being chosen for this position really means a lot to me. I know I have some big shoes to fill and while I doubt I’ll end up being the principal at a school one day I think my success will be measured in the joy and excitement of my peers.
I asked my adviser, Ms. King, what sets us apart from other school’s journals?
“I think what will set us apart is the Lincoln students,” King said. “The Lincoln student brings so much and has so many experiences to share with the community.”
I am so glad to be sharing this experience with my team and you all. With that once again I’d like to say thank you for all your support and let me test out my new sign-off:
Ya’ll stay safe (too cheesy? not long enough? What do ya’ll think?)
