Upacara Ngaben di Bali adalah ritual yang dilaksanakan untuk mengembalikan roh ke tempat asalnya. Ada kehidupan yang lebih baik daripada sekarang. Hidup adalah merupakan persinggahan dan persiapan untuk kehidupan berikutnya yang lebih baik. I painted this ceremony of Ngaben, practised by the Balinese, where the soul is released to reach a higher realm. Islam teaches us that this life is only a temporary stop toward the final destination of eternity.

This painting depicts North Bridge Road, in Kampong Glam, once known for its activities and businesses centred around the Haj and the gathering of its pilgrims. Today this historic area has evolved into a hip, youthful area while still maintaining an endearing authenticity and character. Perhaps the iconic Sultan Mosque has given its surrounding environment some balance and will help the area to continue aging gracefully.
