My series of work that began in 2009 were derived from an obsession with the lines and textures of construction buildings. Exploring the composition of lines and the addition vs extraction of value, the art works strives to create a quiet energy that draws the viewer forwards and backwards into the space.
Over the years my obsession of the scaffoldings in construction buildings aroused from an intrigue of the concept of constant change and progress. This concept gradually evolved into a critique of the homogenous, modular designs of public housings which reflects the orderly and regulative lifestyle of our fast-paced urban society that were transposed in the grid-like pattern of individual units and daunting imagery of dark high-rise buildings.
The current transition into the realm of nature is a reflection of the desire for an escape into the natural world within the inner mental space. This desire is a result of the current pandemic and experiences of being quarantined.
