The purpose of Planning for Success Family Night is to promote school success for all students. Mrs. Lee shared a slideshow that included learning strategies & support systems that will enable all students to be successful at WMS and beyond. Mr. Nishi led an interactive activity with students and their parents that focused on goal setting and student success.
During the AVID Induction Ceremony we will formally welcome new students new to our Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program. Mr. Passamonte shared the Eagle Parable. We gifted our students “eagle” feathers and lei. We are so happy to celebrate our 36 new AVID students who are beginning their journey to college & career!
We had almost 200 people attend our event! Mahalo nui loa to Title 1 Parent Involvement Funds for sponsoring our delicious refreshments.

McKinley vs. Kalani Girls Volleyball: Senior Night
Opportunity Knowledge is defined by AVID as: Students research opportunities, set goals, make choices that support their long-term aspirations, and successfully navigate transitions to the next level.
Our second AVID field trip was to attend the McKinley vs. Kalani Girls Volleyball games on Thursday, October 1, 2026. We had so much fun cheering on our WMS alumni, especially our WMS AVID alumni & Super Eagle (2023) Ariana Balubar! We are so proud of how far all of our Student Athletes have come! Special thanks to McKinley Athletic Director Bob Morikuni for hosting us, to our Domingo Ohana for sponsoring our bus, and to our chaperones Mr. Nishi, Mr. Anderson, Mr. & Mrs. Tang, and Mrs. Lee who made this field trip possible!

AVID, Advanced Media, & Lōkahi Club students met representatives from colleges & universities from all over the United States and around the world at the NACAC National College Fair, on Tuesday, September 29, 2026. AVID students were so impressed by the interactions that they had with the college representatives who took the time to answer their questions with respect and kindness. They had fun learning about all of their college options, learned about WUE (Western Undergraduate Exchange) schools, and they received college swag. Mahalo to our Domingo family for sponsoring the bus and to our chaperones Mr. Nishi, Mr. Anderson, Mr. & Mrs. Tang, and Mrs. Lee who made this field trip possible!
