PSAT/SAT/ACT

Notice to Juniors:  You will be taking ACT exam in school,  in February, 2025.  (Date not set as of July, 2024.)  No registration needed.  You will be registered to take the test as long as you are classified as grade 11 in Infinite Campus.

FOR FALL 2025 COLLEGE APPLICATIONS:  Some colleges no longer require SAT or ACT test scores for admissions.  This means that they WILL NOT consider test scores when evaluating applications.   Make sure to check the college's website for requirements. 

The SAT & ACT are two College Entrance Exams.  National test dates are set each year and students take the exam on a Saturday at a certified testing center. There are numerous centers located across the Island of Oahu and students can select which center they prefer to test at.  Each test date has a regular and late registration deadline. Registering late comes with an additional late fee. All testing sites have limited seating and are on a first come, first serve basis. Please refer to the SAT & ACT websites below for more information. 

If you qualify for Free/Reduced lunch, you may qualify for a SAT and ACT fee waiver.   Students who qualify will be able to take two (2) SAT , sit for two(2) SAT subject exams, and four (4) ACT exams for free.

JUNIORS who took the PSAT exam and qualified for a fee waiver will find two(2) fee waivers for the SAT in their Collegeboard account.

PSAT/NMSQT

The PSAT/NMSQT is the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. The PSAT is a great primer for the SAT, and even the ACT, but it's more than just a trial run. PSAT scores are used to identify National Merit Scholars and award merit scholarships.

The PSAT is scheduled for October, 2024.  Sign up in the College & Career Center beginning September 9-13th during lunch and after school ONLY.  Limited testing spots will be available.  Juniors will be given priority.  Should there be space available, students in grades 9 & 10 will be accommodated.  You must be a student at McKinley High School in order to test.

Cost to take the test is $18.
