Academy for Hawaii Intelligence Studies Summer Program (AHI-SP) is a FREE 3-credit course.
The ProgramThis innovative opportunity delivers a free 3-credit, university-level course(POLS 120: Introduction to World Politics) and related programming toHawaiʻi high school students and incoming UH Mānoa freshmen.All expenses, including registration, tuition/fees, airfare, and on-campus housing/meals are included.

Junior Engineers Summer STEM Experience (JESSE) internship program hosted by UHM College of Engineering. 6 weeks each June - July. JESSE is an amazing opportunity for rising high school seniors to gain real-world engineering experience and work within one of our UH Mānoa labs under the guidance of a lab mentor. Interns also have the opportunity to visit professional workplaces showcasing engineers in action and develop their professional portfolios through workshops and other interactive experiences designed just for them.

The program will take place at the Hawai‘i Institute of Marine Biology at Moku o Lo‘e (Coconut Island) in Kāne‘ohe Bay, part of the School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology at UH Mānoa. Students will embark on our learning vessel, Ka Noelo Kai, from He‘eia Kea Boat Harbor to Moku o Loʻe (approximately 15 minutes each way, daily). This week-long summer program provides an engaging, hands-on learning opportunity for students interested in marine science research. Weather permitting activities include a science walking tour of the island, in-water coral reef transects and data analyses, and lab experiments highlighting marine bioacoustics, neuroethology, and coral reef biodiversity. COST: $500 FOR RESIDENTS

Considering a career in health care? Through gross anatomy laboratory demonstrations, clinical skills laboratories, computerized manikin simulations, and standardized patient interactions, you’ll learn how to: describe the epidemiology, signs and symptoms, pathophysiology, diagnosis, and treatment of illnesses common in Hawaii; perform basic clinical skills such as measuring vital signs and listening to the heart and lungs with stethoscopes; and interview and counsel patients.

Apply for the Summer Scholar Program and earn college credits during six weeks in the summer. Upon acceptance to the program, qualified high school sophomores and juniors can register for University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa Summer 2025 courses and experience the college environment while still in high school. The Richardson Law & Justice Program is a week-long, intensive summer program for high school students interested in law, justice, and careers in the legal field. The goal of the Program is to introduce high school students to legal issues and the legal system; to build their skills in critical thinking, analysis, advocacy, and leadership; and to provide them with both tools and inspiration to become active and engaged citizens and members of their communities. The Program is held at the Law School (2515 Dole Street). The Program is provided at no cost to participants.
The 2025 Program will run from Monday, June 2th to Friday, June 6th. The Program runs daily from approximately 8:30 am - 4:30 pm. High school participants will engage in a variety of educational activities related to law and the legal system, culminating in a mock trial on Friday, June 6th. On Wednesday, Jun 4th, the participants will take a bus to downtown Honolulu to visit Hawaiʻi District Court, the Hawaiʻi Supreme Court, and the Hawaiʻi State Capitol.

Eligibility: Rising sophomores through high school students going into their senior year.
Participants are selected based on an application process that includes a writing sample and a statement of purpose. Preference is given to students enrolled in public schools. All students who have completed at least one year of high school are welcome to apply.

The Summer CTE Academy is a five week exploratory summer program that offers students the opportunity to experience various career and technical education programs offered at Honolulu Community College.
Other Opportunites Available
This program enables students to engage with sustainability challenges facing our local and global community and help them define their interests in higher education and potential future careers.
The Sustainability Fellowship offers participants a transformative educational experience focused on sustainability, leadership and innovation. The program is intended for approximately 20 students from across the State of Hawaiʻi, starting in the summer before their .
The program is free, and eligible students from all Hawai‘i public, independent and charter schools are encouraged to apply. Applications open in the fall.
