He keiki aloha nā mea kanu

Beloved children are the plants  (Pukui 1983:76, verse 684)

ALO Students have partnered with the local non profits and the County government to beautify our campus and community with plants of importance to Punaʻs ecosystems and Hawaii culture.  They will continue to add to this body of work by creating educational signage, with QR codes that link to this site and more information about our beloved mea kanu o Puna, or plants of Puna.

NĀ Mea Kanu

During Kauwela 2023, ALO haumāna planted over 50 endemic, indigenous, and culturally-relevant plant species all over our Pāhoa High & Intermediate School!! Check out the link to see the map of where each plant can be found on campus.
