= A member of the Malvaceae (hibiscus) family, this species has light green fuzzy leaves and a tiny yellow flower. The small hairs on the teardrop shaped leaves with a serrated edge, can be found all over the entire plant and can sometimes give it a silver/ gray appearance. Also appearing with fuzzy buds on the tips of branches.
Tropics and Warmer Subtropics
Propagation by Seeds. Dry them in a paper bag for about a week and strain the resulting material through a sieve to separate the seeds. NTBG recommends sowing the seeds in a potting mix of 2 parts sterile potting mix and 1 part perlite or fine ash.
Historically, 'Uhaloa was used by Ancient Hawaiians to heal a sore throat. It is said that they would chew the bark or roots of the plant.
