Introduction

Philosophy will be a new subject to some of you, while others will already have wrestled with conundrums such as time travel and identity. In fact, though, you may well have been engaging in philosophy without realising it: because every time you question received ideas, spot a flaw in an argument, or speculate as to why we think of some acts as moral and others immoral, you are in fact engaging in philosophy.


Whether you are new to philosophy or not, we ask that you spend some time this summer engaging in reading and activities which will get you off to the best possible start in Autumn 2022.
